Fast food is popular because it’s fast and it’s cheap relative to higher quality organic foods (not necessarily anymore!). Prepackaged foods are also convenient, but, most of them are full of crap and make you gain weight. A healthy eating plan is easier than ever to put together with the right tools.
One of the main things that keeps people from eating well and losing weight is time. Who has the time to put together a healthy eating plan and prepare meals that are nutritious? I guarantee that if people could figure out a way to making eating healthy faster, more people would eat well and in return, lose weight, achieve fitness, etc…
I have found that the fundamentals of an efficient healthy kitchen are quite simple and yet we don’t think to use the tools or try the techniques that make eating well faster and easier. It is only a matter of creating simple habits that become routines and having the right tools. Once you have these two things in place you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to eat well.

Try these simple tips to start setting up a healthy kitchen
- Get a blender. You can make healthy shakes with fruit vegetables and supplements that taste great in no time. No time to chew? No problem!
- Buy some good knives. Cutting up vegetables and fruits with lousy knives makes prep work MUCH harder than it has to be
- Get a very large salad spinner. Cut up anything you want and chuck it n there. Wash is quickly and spin it. Dinner is served.
- Buy ziploc baggies in bulk. Sandwich and freezer. I have kids and make lunches every day, but, even for single folks, this is huge. Prep everything for the week watching a football game on Sunday and then every day you can grab single servings out of the fridge no matter how much of a hurry you are in. Cook big meals on Sundays and cut them into portions and freeze them.
- Get a good toaster oven. Microwaves are bad for you and they ruin food. A good toaster oven speeds up hot food prep without the soggy after effects.
Once you start thinking like this you will find other shortcuts that will make a healthy eating plan part of your day to day routine.
